Rhino Dehorning

We visited the largest white rhino reserve in the world, which is owned by a client of Wildlife Vets. The rhinos were darted and dehorned to discourage poachers from trespassing and killing them for the high value horn. It is sawed off right above the germinal layer and when they wake up it doesn't hurt any more than a hair cut.

  1. Hi Judy,
I just came across your post as I'm doing research about a wildlife documentary I'm preparing in South Africa. Do you know which game reserve is was or would you have the contact details of the vets who are performing the dehorning?

    Thanks in advance!
